  • Dr. Jean G. de Oliveira was born in Belém-PA-Brazil, where he graduated from medical school at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and accomplished his neurosurgical training at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), São Paulo-SP-Brazil, where he also worked in Division of Cerebrovascular Surgery and got his Master of Sciences(MSc) in Neurosurgery. 
  • In 2002 Dr. de Oliveira was board certified by the Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery (SBN). During a fellowship in Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Surgery at Frankfurt University (Germany), he developed a research study about non-invasive intraoperative cerebral ICG angiography during intracranial aneurysm surgery,whose final publication resulted in a Ph.D. in the Department of Neurosciences at University of São Paulo (FMUSP). 
  • Dr. de Oliveira got the CNS International Fellowship Award in 2006 and was trained by Dr. Robert F. Spetzler at Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI), Phoenix-AZ-USA, focusing on neurosurgical treatment of cerebrovascular and skull base lesions. After his return to Brazil, Dr. de Oliveira became Head of Cerebrovascular and Skull Base Surgery at the Center of Neurology and Neurosurgery Associates(CENNA), Hospital Beneficência Portuguesa de São Paul-SP, Brazil. Between 2019 and 2022, Dr. de Oliveira was the Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at A.C.Camargo Cancer Center (ACCCC) in São Paulo-SP, Brazil. 
  • Currently, Dr. Jean G. de Oliveira is a Professor of Neurosurgery at Santa Casa de São Paulo School of Medical Sciences (FCMSCSP), where he comprises patient assistance care, medical graduates and residents teaching, and research. Professor de Oliveira is a member of the Editorial Board and Reviewer of several international medical journals.
  • In the last years, his teaching assignments included the Education and Training Committee of the Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery (SBN) and the World Federation of Neurological Societies (WFNS). His main interests include the neurosurgical management of cerebrovascular diseases (intracranial aneurysms, brain AVMs, cavernous malformations) and neuro-oncology (brain tumors, gliomas, meningiomas, and skull base tumors).

Home page:[doi:10.3389/fsurg.2022.875881] Olfactory neuroblastoma, or esthesioneuroblastoma, is an uncommon malignant tumor originating from theneural crest that commonly occurs in the upper nasal cavity. Its ectopic origin is extremely rare, especiallywhen located in the optical pathways. This paper reports the case of a giant ectopicesthesioneuroblastoma of the optic pathways that were surgically treated through a cranio-orbital-zygomatic (COZ) craniotomy with extensive resection, in addition to a literature review. Te patient is a 46-year-old female presenting with a 4-month history of visual loss in the left eye. Since she was previouslyblind in the right eye from a traumatic injury, it was evolving to loss of bilateral vision. Imaging depicted anexpansive infiltrating lesion involving the entire path of the right optic nerve, extending to the optic chiasm,cisternal portion of the left optic nerve, bilateral optic tract, and hypothalamus. Investigation of pituitaryfunction was unremarkable. Esthesioneuroblastoma is a rare tumor with poorly defined standard clinicalmanagement. Its ectopic presentation makes the diagnosis even more challenging, making it difficult tomanage these cases properly. Surgeons should be aware of this rare possibility, as early aggressivetreatment is likely to be associated with better results.

Home page: [doi:10.1590/s0004-282x2005000200031] ABSTRACT Dissecting aneurysms of the vertebral artery at its intracranial segment are uncommonlesions, mainly when associated to subarachnoid hemorrhage, being also rare fenestrations of thevertebral artery. They present high morbidity and mortality, with high rebleeding rate and difficulty ofsurgical approach. We present a 19 years old man who was victim of physical aggression in the occipto-cervical region, presenting subarachnoid hemorrhage and a dissecting aneurysm of the right vertebralartery, which had a fenestration, being submitted to endovascular treatment. We accomplished a literaturereview about this subject, proposing endovascular treatment as a therapeutic option for these cases. D´Angelo and coworker (1998) found 1 to 10% of residual aneurysms. They suggest that if theresidual aneurysm has less than 2 mm, angiographic control must be performed after 3-5 years of thesurgical procedure; if between 2 and 4 mm, the angiographic control must be done in the first 6 monthsafter surgery and then, anually. If it has more than 4mm a direct surgical approach is advised. We presentthe cases of two female patients submitted to microsurgical treatment of intracranial aneurysm, without anyintra-operative abnormal event. The angiographic study further made showed displacement of the clip fromits original position and aneurysm again. A review of the literature is also presented.
