- Professor Viswanath YKS is a general surgeon with a specialist interest in upper gastrointestinal, laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery. He has been a consultant for nearly 20 years. He qualified in 1989 and trained in premier upper GI surgery centres the Tyne and Tees and in Leeds. Prof Viswanath previously successfully led the Upper-Gastrointestinal oncology team and served as the Cancer Lead clinician for the trust managing various onco-specialities.

He established STRETTA (Endoscopic Anti-reflux Radio-frequency Treatment) centre in the UK and introduced Restech pH studies to investigate and manage patients with acid reflux and LPR (cough, lumpy sensation in the throat, cranky voice).
